Next 2009 QUAD CONFERENCE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING
Note: August 11th meeting cancelled
BC Interior Chapter Conference
On behalf of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) British Columbia Interior Chapter, you are invited to take part in a 'Mini-Conference' to be held at the UBC-Okanagan Campus (3333 University Way, Kelowna, BC in the ART's Building - Room 124) on September 5th, 2008.
This event is intended for all engineers, planners, technologists, students, or any other professionals with an interest in transportation issues in our region. ITE represents more than 13,000 members who are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods in over 70 countries, including approximately 1,200 members in Canada (represented by the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers - CITE). ITE promotes the professional development of its members, supports education and research, develops public awareness programs, and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the benefits of involvement with ITE in our area and, with the support of those attending, move to establish a 'permanent' chapter of ITE in the BC Interior.
A number of speakers have been scheduled to make a short presentation on a variety of transportation topics. These will include presentations regarding relevant transportation issues, initiatives, and programs in our region. In addition, there will be opportunities to discuss the benefits, services, and products provided by ITE. A tentative agenda for this event is as follows:
Alf Guebert (the current International President of ITE), Thomas Kwan (current President of the ITE Greater Vancouver Section), and other representatives from ITE Canada will be attending and will participate in our panel discussion. This will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions about how ITE can support your career, organization, or community.
At this time, we would like to confirm the number of attendees for this event. If you plan on attending this event please RSVP by AUGUST 29, 2008. Please note that in order to cover the costs of holding this event, registration fees will be collected as follows:
