Lifetime Achievement Award - 2005

Dan Doyle

After joining the BC MoT fresh out of UBC, he worked his way all the up to the post of deputy minister in 2001, which he held until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure at the ministry he has overseen almost every major transportation project in the province, including the rehabilitation of the Lion’s Gate Bridge and the Sea to Sky improvement project. He also served as chairman for Rapid Transit 2000, the organization that delivered the Millennium Line. Because of all his experience in running large capital projects, he caught the eye of VANOC which made him the Executive Vice President of Venue Construction, a post in which anecdotal evidence suggests he did a fine job! In addition to receiving this lifetime achievement award, he was selected as the Canadian Transportation Person of the Year in 2005 and was awarded with the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for Excellence in Public Administration in 2002.
