Bill Curtis Award - 2004

Transportation for university students has always been a challenge, especially when both of Greater Vancouver’s two largest universities (UBC and SFU) are separated from the rest of the city by a giant forest and on top of a mountain respectively. In order to provide lower-cost transport to students and to encourage a culture of transit ridership outside of education; this U-Pass program was established. For a fee that is assessed with student and tuition fees, students at SFU and UBC have unlimited access to Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus services while receiving a discount on the West Coast Express.
